The Porsche Cayman (981) is a mid-engine sports car from Porsche. The open-top model is called the Boxster, and the coupe version with a metal roof is called the Cayman. The Boxster and Cayman share common elements in design and interior design, and after the 911, Porsche's highest grade, was redesigned at the end of 2011, the Boxster evolved six months later, and the Cayman evolved from the 987 model to the 981 model a year later.

 

The 981 model's chassis is made of approximately 47% aluminum, making the Boxster (MT model) 25kg lighter than its predecessor, the 987. To further increase rigidity, magnesium alloy is used around the center tunnel, significantly improving static torsional rigidity by 40% compared to the previous model.

 

The engine is a horizontally opposed 6-cylinder with a displacement of 2,706cc. The maximum output of the Boxster is 195kW (265ps) while that of the Cayman is 202kW (275ps).

 

The Cayman is a lightweight sports car that offers powerful driving and stable cornering, and its compact body makes it relatively easy to park in urban areas. In addition, as the last model (excluding GTS4.0/GT4) with a flat-six engine on the used car market, it also has the appeal of offering a Porsche-like sound.

Thanks to the kindness of the owner, I was able to test drive in the passenger seat, and the air conditioning worked well and was comfortable.

He has been enjoying riding it, but says he is getting rid of it as operating the clutch has become a bit of a hassle.
